How To Say SEVERAL In American English

🤔 SEVERAL

Are you saying this word naturally?

A lot of English learners make this mistake, but it’s easy to fix.

In American English, we usually say: SEV-rəl.

It’s not usually: SEV-e-rel. It’s SEV-rəl.

There are just two syllables: SEV-rəl.

The stress is on the first syllable: SEV-rəl.

That middle vowel gets reduced, so it sounds much smoother: SEV-rəl.

I have SEV-rəl ideas.

SEV-rəl people asked me about this.

He came here SEV-rəl months ago.

We need SEV-rəl chairs for the meeting.

Let’s practice. I’ll say blue. You say green.

SEV-rəl.

I have SEV-rəl ideas.

SEV-rəl people asked me about this.

He came here SEV-rəl months ago.

We need SEV-rəl chairs for the meeting.

Why not try writing your example with SEV-rəl in the comments.
