CHOCOLATE Pronunciation Lesson

MichaelADAmerican English Pronunciation

You’re saying this word wrong: Chocolate

A lot of English learners make this mistake, but it’s easy to fix. And changing this one thing will make your pronunciation sound more natural.

Don’t say:  choc-o-late     That’s too many syllables.
We usually say  CHAWK-lit. CHAWK-lit   2 syllables, not 3

Listen again: CHAWK-lit

I love chocolate ice cream.
* She bought some chocolate.
* Do you like dark chocolate?

Let’s practice. Repeat after me. (I’ll say blue. You say green)
– CHAWK-lit
– chocolate ice cream.

Try leaving your sentence with chocolate  in the comments.
