Suit or fit? These two words are easy to confuse, but the difference is simple.
We use fit when something is the correct size or shape.
- These shoes fit me perfectly.
- This jacket doesn’t fit.
- Does this table fit in the corner?
We use suit when something is right for your style, appearance, needs, or situation.
- That color really suits you.
- This job suits her personality.
- Friday afternoon suits me.
Here’s an easy way to remember:
- fit talks about the right size
- suit talks about the right match
What color suits you best? Leave your answer in the comments.
