What does the word “Adjacent” mean?

Adjacent means located near or next to something. So, if someone says “The two rooms are adjacent”, they mean that the two rooms are located near each other.

Here are some example sentences using adjacent with this meaning:

  • The kitchen and dining room are adjacent to each other.
  • The hotel I booked isadjacent to the train station, so it’s very convenient.
  • The park is adjacent to the river, making it a popular spot for fishing and boating.
