Learn English Idioms – BUGS

MIchael Idioms

What does the idiom BUGS mean?

IT BUGS ME!
What does it mean when someone says that something bugs them? Well, bug is another word for insect, you know, like a spider or a fly. Well, for many people, those small creatures are annoying, right? So we use the word bug as a verb to mean “to be bothered or annoyed.”

Here are some example sentences using BUGS with this meaning:

  • My neighbor plays loud music all the time. It bugs me!
  • The boss is always bugging me to work overtime.
  • Jack said that his wife has been bugging him to buy a new car.

How about you? What bugs you these days?
