Learn English Grammar – Next, This, Last and Prepositions

What’s the story with using prepositions?

In English we have some set time phrases like last week, last month, this month, this year, next year, next week, and so on. Well, when we use those kinds of phrases it’s not necessary to put another preposition before those phrases. In fact, that would be considered incorrect grammar. Here is a one point blessing to help you with this point.

  • I went there last weekNot in last week.
  • I am going this weekNot in this week.
  • I am going next weekNot in next week.

Keep in mind the best way to remember this or any vocabulary in English is to take the word or phrase write it in a sentence that’s true for you or true in your world and then memorize your sentences.

You can even take your sentences and write them in the comments below. I would love to see your examples. And if you really want help with vocabulary, sign up for my free vocabulary workshop (see below).
