Erode is a verb which means to wear away because of some factor. Erosion is the noun form with the same meaning. For example,

  • Beach erosion is caused by the wind and the ocean waves.
  • That candidate’s support eroded because of the scandals he was connected to.
  • Don’t allow anything to erode your enthusiasm for learning English!

Keep in mind the best way to remember this or any vocabulary in English is to take the word or phrase write it in a sentence that’s true for you or true in your world and then memorize your sentences.
