You can ask + someone + something:

  • I asked Jack a question.
  • Please ask the policeman where the station is.
  • Jane asked me what will be on the exam

You can ask + someone + for + something:

  • I asked Jack for directions to his house.
  • We should ask the policeman for directions to the station.
  • Jane asked me for information about the exam

You can ask + someone + to verb:

  • I asked Jack to help me with my homework.
  • Please ask the policeman to show us the way to the station.
  • Jane asked me to tell her time and place of the exam.

You can ask + someone + about + something:

  • I asked Jack about the homework.
  • Please ask the policeman about the location of the station.
  • Jane asked me about the exam.
