It’s 22F (-6C) in NYC today, another cold day in this the coldest winter I can remember. So what better way to start the day than with another “cold” idiom. If you have a disagreement with someone, you may purposely ignore them. Maybe you don’t say hi when they walk into the room. Or maybe you are so upset, you are quite when they are around. So, we can say you are giving them the cold shoulder:
– Since the argument we had about their loud music, our neighbors give us the cold shoulder when they see us.
– It seems like Tom’s ex-girlfriend is giving all his friends the cold shoulder too.
Thanks for not giving me the cold shoulder. I appreciate all of the emails and comments!
