Hey guys it’s Michael here from Happy English and I’m back with another podcast English lesson just for you. Before we get started with today’s lesson, I wanted to mention a few things about the podcast. First, did you know that you can listen to the happy English podcast on your Amazon echo. Speaking of being able to do things. Today I want to talk about a very basic but, very important point in English and that is, talking about ability with can and be able to. Let’s check it out!

Here are the example sentences. To get the details of this English lesson, you need to listen to the podcast or check the transcript for the details.

  • Mike can make pizza better than anyone else in his family.
  • Donna can sing Italian songs very well.
  • David can dance, he can act, and he can sing. That’s why he’s working on Broadway.
  • Mike is able to eat good pizza because he lives in Napoli.
  • Donna is able to sing Italian songs because her grandmother was a professional singer.
  • Jim is able to see the Statue of Liberty from his apartment because he lives on the 60th floor.
  • You need someone to fix the PC? I might be able to help you!
  • I haven’t been able to find a good pizza shop near my office.
  • Someday soon, average citizens will be able to fly in space.
  • Jenny said that when she used to work in the ice cream shop, she could eat as much ice cream as she wanted for free.
  • When my grandfather was younger, he was so strong he could lift up my sister and I at the same time.
  • Even though it was cloudy, I was able to enjoy playing golf yesterday.
  • Thanks to Jack’s negotiating skills, we were able to get the contract signed in one meeting.
  • Jimmy studied hard, so naturally he was able to pass the exam.
